The RugbyREF Story

RugbyREF began in 2017 with a simple observation from a returning Referee: match officials had plenty to manage, but very little purpose-built technology to support them on the field.
With no development team and no formal coding background, the first RugbyREF tools were built from practical match-day experience. The original iOS and Apple Watch app launched in 2018, combining scoring, match timing and card management in one Referee-focused system.
What began as a single on-field app has grown into a connected rugby framework. MyRugbyREF brings Referees, appointments, performance information and Union administration together, while SidelineManager extends match control to the technical area.
RugbyREF now continues across Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad, with the new Android and Wear OS platform extending those match-day tools to more officials. Every product follows the same principle: practical technology, shaped by people who understand the game from inside the touchline.
